Conflict Resolution Skills for HR Generalists

The goal of this half-day program is to provide new HR Generalists with skills to effectively respond to and resolve conflicts between individuals, managers and groups by demonstrating effective conflict resolution and decision making skills.  At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how HR Generalists can demonstrate the fundamental principles of effective employee relations through their daily actions

  • Describe the different roles HR Generalists play during conflict resolution including fact finder, mediator/facilitator, arbitrator and presenter of company’s position

  • Explain the process of gathering and documenting the facts surrounding the conflict

  • Identify the intervention and conflict resolution strategies that can be used

  • Develop effective responses to negative reactions and emotions during the conflict resolution process

The workshop includes case studies based on examples drawn from typical situations facing new Human Resources professionals.  Participants will have the opportunity to interview individuals playing the role of manager and employee in skill practices and determine what action needs to be taken to resolve the conflict presented.
