What Every Manager Needs to Know About Equal Employment Opportunity

The goal of this course is to enable managers to know how EEO laws impact their day-to-day responsibilities as leaders within the organization.

Course length: 3 Hours (typical)  

Objectives:

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key provisions of federal Civil Rights Legislation including:

    • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

    • The Civil Rights Act of 1991

    • ADEA

    • Equal Pay Act

    • The Americans with Disabilities Act

    • Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Act

  • Explain the specific requirements for federal contractors outlined in Executive Order 11246

  • Explain how the laws impact managers in the areas of:

    • interviewing and hiring

    • compensation

    • work assignment

    • performance management

    • discipline and termination

  • Describe the human and financial cost to the organization if discrimination occurs

  • Explain the actions supervisors and Human Resources professionals must take to promote Equal Employment Opportunity
