Introduction to Problem Solving

Course Length: 4 hours (typical)

The Introduction to Problem Solving course provides the participants with an introduction to the practical use of a team-based problem solving system. This course is ideal for those employees who may be asked to be an occasional member of a problem solving team, or for anyone who could benefit from an understanding of a logic-based problem solving approach. More advanced users may prefer our 16-hour Problem Solving Process Tools Workshop.

The course materials are based on the Global 8D problem solving model, however, the course content may be customized to address other industry standard problem solving models or a proprietary model that is used within your organization.

Course Objectives: 

At the completion of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

Describe the benefits of using the formal model for solving problems

Identify the steps of the 8D problem solving model

Prepare for the problem solving process

Use a team approach

Describe the problem

Implement and verify containment activity

Define root cause

Implement permanent corrective action

Prevent recurrence

Congratulate your team

Identify problem solving tools that may be used in conjunction with each step
